Michelle & Adam

This past June I spent a wet day with Michelle and Adam (and their family and friends) at Michelle’s family cottage on Salmon Lake, Buckhorn. A fantastic location just north of Peterborough for a wedding. Unfortunately the entire day consisted of off-and-on light rain. Since the wedding was an outdoor ceremony overlooking the lake, and there was no tent, it ended up being a bit wet for some. However almost everyone brought umbrellas and from what I witnessed, everyone was so happy to be there for Michelle and Adam’s wedding that the light on-and-off sprinkle made absolutely no difference. The rain was a bit of a bummer, but I can honestly say it made no difference in the intimacy of their wedding or the genuine joy that enveloped their ceremony.

Something that was quite unique at their wedding was a brief water ski of Michelle and Adam, after the ceremony and before the formals. Seems odd? Not really when the bride is a three time Canadian champion barefoot water skier! With “Just Married” written across their butts, they did a quick wardrobe change and jumped into the lake and water skied off waving to their family and friends. Pretty cool. Got to love it when a couple comes up with something fun and unique to include in their wedding. From the rumors I heard before hand, Adam was pretty nervous doing the ski in front of everyone. He didn’t need to be, he did awesome.

Below are some of my favorites, fully processed and ready to show. Family and friends will have to get the gallery password from Michelle and Adam to see their entire collection on my main website.

Enjoy.

The below image was captured during one of the many times Michelle was looking out the window,
worried that the rain would continue or get worse.

Most would look at the below image and say ‘what the!?’. The officiant thought it would be funny to use handcuffs during part of the ceremony … oh, did I forget to mention Adam is a police officer and I am going to guess that’s where he got the handcuff’s and the reason for the humor?

The best man has to be good for something other than throwing the bachelor party ….

In 2008 I volunteered to shoot all of the major events at our local community centre. At the Canada Day event there was a group of soldiers present, along with a tank, as the special guests of the day. They were there as a thanks to the community for sending care packages over to the middle east in support of the Canadian troops. It was an impressive display that the soldiers setup and they allowed the children to sit in the tank and check it out both from the cockpit and from the navigation/tactical area in the rear. Later in the day there was a presentation, cake and some picture taking. It was quite a special event to have the troops visit us. They were a great group of guys.

This one hit home for our small town because Buckhorn is a small intimate community. My sister and me both went to the same highschool as Cpl Nick and we also worked at the same restaurant here in Buckhorn during our school years. Our condolences to the Bulger family.

Below is a snippet from the CBC website and some of the images I took of the guys for the community centre.
