The weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony; a bit overcast and a light breeze off the lake. To our luck, the light shower that passed over hit just seconds after we walked into the tent for dinner. Dinner was great and the dancing was crazy. I believe they tripped the breaker to the power only once! A rock’n party goes dead silent awfully fast when everything goes black. LOL I would post some of the dancing images I shot but I think it would embarrass those in the pictures. I’ll leave those for in their private gallery.

So out I went and that was just what we did.

It came very very close to raining, but we were lucky and the weather cooperated. Oh, and did I mention they have an absolutely fantastic cottage!? What they have built is a spot that generations will truly enjoy.

The very small guest list, the intimate ceremony on the dock and the great meal catered by Peterborough’s ‘A Movable Feast’ all combined to create a fantastic way to spend a Saturday.

On the day of Amber and Rob’s wedding we saw really high winds for a short period of time, and severe storm clouds to our north. Fortunately for all, the wind calmed shortly after the outdoor ceremony and the storm clouds kept their distance and did not impact our time after the ceremony when were creating beautiful images.

Last year I was up the same way for a family shoot on one of Catchacoma’s neighboring lakes. I’ve always considered the Trent Severn to be the Hwy 401 of the Kawartha’s. Getting a little further north to the Catchacoma, Mississauga, Gold, Pencil, etc lakes is a real treat. These connected lakes are just a short drive north of Buckhorn and are quiet, weedless and clean. True Kawartha lifestyle.

Frances’ and Jacob are a fantastic couple that each come from great families. I had the pleasure of shooting Jacobs family earlier this year at their cottage on Buckhorn Lake. That was really nice because going to the wedding I already was familiar with the grooms family and they were familiar with me. Frances’ mother works with my wife in Peterborough and is a friend of my own mother. So it made for a relaxed, comfortable day for all (at least in the realm of photography). Oh ya, did I mention is was freak’n hot?
