Family Shoot @ the Cottage – Buckhorn

Woodhouse Photography

This August I had a pre-scheduled family shoot that certainly has been my largest to-date. When I was contacted I was told that a large family get together was taking place over one particular weekend and it would be nice to have a professional photographer come out and capture a nice group shot as well as individual shots of the families.

So out I went and that was just what we did.

It came very very close to raining, but we were lucky and the weather cooperated. Oh, and did I mention they have an absolutely fantastic cottage!? What they have built is a spot that generations will truly enjoy.

Below is one of my picks from the group shots we did as well as one of the family shots of Liz (the one who contacted me) and her family.

Family Shoot – Buckhorn Lake

Recently I had the 3rd time pleasure of shooting the Buckner family. A great Ohio group that has a couple of cottages on Lower Buckhorn Lake. Last year little Noah was only a few months old. A year later and wow, what a difference. At such a young age, several months can make huge difference. This shoot, with Noah being more mobile and interactive, was mostly about their newest member of their family.

Here are a few of my fav’s.

Family Shoot – Catchacoma Lake

Nadine contacted me some time back about a family shoot at their cottage on Catchacoma Lake. But getting together was a little tougher than anticipated because of weather. We did not give up! Eventually we had a day where Mother Nature cooperated and I had the pleasure of meeting herself, her husband Glen and their two beautiful daughters. I loved their eastern Kawartha cottage. It was a fantastic spot both in the private ‘water access only’ location and view off their dock of Catchacoma Lake.

Last year I was up the same way for a family shoot on one of Catchacoma’s neighboring lakes. I’ve always considered the Trent Severn to be the Hwy 401 of the Kawartha’s. Getting a little further north to the Catchacoma, Mississauga, Gold, Pencil, etc lakes is a real treat. These connected lakes are just a short drive north of Buckhorn and are quiet, weedless and clean. True Kawartha lifestyle.
