For starters, thank you for taking the time to visit my website. This website is my online presence for my constantly evolving portfolio. Weddings, family portraits, high school graduation portraits or my own personal photography, it will all be consolidated on this website.
I am Adam Woodhouse, a professional wedding photographer that lives in the beautiful Kawartha region of Ontario, just a short drive north of Peterborough. For those that are not from the area, Peterborough is a little over one hour northeast of Toronto. I have a B.Sc degree from Trent University and have worked professionally in the I.T. (computer) field for over 15 years. Before my photography matured to the business it is today, it started as it does for most, a hobby. When attending Peterborough's Trent University I shot images of the campus and submitted them to the annual yearbook photo competition. To my surprise my two submissions won both first and second place. The images were used as the cover art and first intro page for the yearbook. It was at that time I began to think more seriously about photography and how important it is. Even with that great experience I found over the years that photography that was only for my own benefit was unfulfilling. It was then that I decided to start my wedding photography business and to take my work to the next level. I no longer wanted my work to be just for me. The photography needed to be for the benefit of others who would enjoy and truly appreciate my work. It felt very natural for me to start my wedding photography business. As an added bonus weddings are fun so why wouldn't I want to be a part of that!? On a couple's wedding day their family and friends are excited, they dress their very best and welcome photography into their personal lives. For me it is a great time to be interacting with a new family and share in their joy.
In my photography I find my life experiences and my personal self influence my work. This aids in creating the images I do because I find I can connect with a family. I feel the family's joy as a parent, a husband, a brother and a son.
