HEROS
A listing of members who have regonized positions with the club or have helped out at one time or another in great ways.
Bill Castell - Life Member You may not see Bill at the field as much as he'd like due to his health, but his heart is there. In the past Bill has done a huge amount of behind the scenes that was not always noted or seen by all club members. Long known as the unofficial Field Officer he was the first with shovel and rake to help get the field in shape. Bill is a retired teacher. He has in the past taken on the ugly job of making sure the club follows its legal charter of incorporation. Bill has been recognized by MAAC and our club as a Leader and has the respectable letter "L" at the end of his MAAC number. |

Ted Sharp - The "Ted Sharp Memorial Fund" Regretfully Ted has passed away but his legacy continues and will for years to come. As most of you are aware Ted, through his family, has donated funds to our club to be used to help support youth activity, something that Ted promoted while he was alive. Ted was one of the clubs more active flyers and definitely the undisputed champ of logging more flights per year then anyone else with out a car. An avid builder Ted's work shop should have been part of a national miniature aircraft tour. Ted's devotion to modeling and the club was nothing less then amazing considering his weak eye sight and the lack of transportation. Many a tall tale or an expression that came from Ted are still heard around the club today. The aviation community lost one of its true hero's when Ted passed on. |

Bob Nightingale Bob has been a very important part of the club for many years. Although Bob is not a flying member, he ran the club's ground school program for many years and made sure that many a new member got started on the right foot. Thanks Bob! |

Ernie Barry Regretfully Ernie has passed away but his spirit will be with us forever. Ernie is another of those guys who did not stand out but that's only because most of the work he did was behind the scenes. Ernie was best known by most members from his past work on the phone committee but he was active in the club for a much longer time. Ernie has served on the Board of Directors and was found at almost every event the club held. Not to be out done Ernie could be found in the early spring with Bill Castell working hard to ensure the road into the field was in the best shape possible; usually before most members even though of heading out. Until 2008 Ernie’s wife continued to audit our financial books. Thank you Barry's! |
