The Woodhouse Photography experience is one of fun, professional and best-in-class that I insist upon in everything I do. This commitment to both my clients and my work is labeled as a 'Signature Brand Photographer'. From our initial meeting through the intimate and fun of your wedding day to the beautiful wall art prints and my stunning flush mount albums are what my professional wedding photography experience entails.
This is your wedding ... you deserve this.
Although I am wedding photographer who specializes in wedding photography in Peterborough and the Kawartha region (because this is where I live). I very much welcome the idea of being a part of your wedding be it Toronto, Oshawa, Ottawa, Kitchener/Waterloo, Barrie, Niagara, etc... or a destination wedding outside of Ontario or Canada. My passport is up-to-date and ready to go!
Wedding photojournalism has become the trend in the wedding industry. As a professional wedding photographer located in the Peterborough area, my goal at your wedding is to provide uncompromising quality in the documentation of your wedding memories. Wedding Photojournalism branches away from traditional wedding photography and the stuffy and intrusive nature it once involved. Old-school wedding photographers create bridal images that are mostly posed and scripted. Today, elements of this are only seen in the "formals," where the photographer (that would be me!) take coordinated posed pictures of the entire family and bridal party. Photojournalism by its very nature allow the day to pass while the photographer (again ... me!) captures wedding day images without involvement in the composition of the photograph. The photojournalism style is one of the characteristics of Woodhouse Photography that my couples have appreciated.
Digital photography vs. film is no longer a question or concern for couples. Digital wedding photography has many benefits for both myself as the photographer and yourself as a couple getting married. Instant feedback on the DSLR cameras help to ensure the images captured are what the photographer intended. It takes the guess work out and increases the chances for repeated success. Some advantages of digital wedding photography include faster post-production (no film to scan into the computer), ease for posting online, negatives in the form of a DVD picture disc and considerably more photos that can be taken on the day of the wedding (thus increasing the chances for more 'wow' images). I have consulted with wedding photographers that take up to 3,000+ wedding photos on a single day. For non-digital wedding photographers, no one would ever use up almost 100+ rolls of 35mm film in one day. Bear in mind that quantity doesn't make up for quality. At Woodhouse Photography, my goal isn't to shoot a high number of images and brag about the quantity. My style is to take my time & think before I shoot. This results in lower total quantity of images captured on a wedding day, but having a very high percentage of 'keepers'. My clients always appreciate my delivery of 400+ quality, professionally processed images in their package; versus 2,000+ unfinished images where they have to go through and select 'the keepers' themselves. My approach to shooting, processing and final deliver of your images is very progressive. Even though Peterborough and the Kawartha's may be seen as not being as progressive as a large city like Toronto, I feel my style, technique and results are in the same class as Wedding Photographers I respect from large city centers like Toronto.
Artistic wedding photography is generally opposite to a documentary style of wedding photography. It involves artistic angles and lighting that pull more out of the image. This also involves more post production (professional Photoshop enhancements) to stylize the photos, such as my love for black and white, traditional dogging and burning, punched up colour and aged effects. Black and white may not necessarily be artistic photography but it can be used in varying ways to create something more artistic than the original image. Don't be fooled by low cost photographers that offer all images in black and white along with their original colour version. A simplistic computer batch run that converts colour to black and white result in a very flat B&W image (called 'grey scale') without the images unique characteristics of tone, colour and exposure taken into consideration. The images that Woodhouse Photography select for black and white are each individually created through a series of master techniques to give each image its own professional and unique look. I feel that this is one of the elements that help Woodhouse Photography stand out from many of the other talented Peterborough & Kawartha area Wedding Photographers.
What about the albums? Each "Artists Choice Album" is a customized wedding album designed by myself (with client feedback before it goes to press) which is then printed on the best printers in the industry (resulting in excellent colour accuracy and longevity). Next the images are ‘flush mounted’ (glued to very thick pages) in a hand made leather album custom built in Toronto. The quality and presentation is excellent. My wedding albums consist of your collection of unique images, super cool portraits, creative details and spontaneous moments. I love showing my samples as they are always very well received. It is rewarding for me to see the fellows look at my samples and get excited about the idea of having their own album done to the Woodhouse Photography standard. As I tell my clients ... 'it is young, modern and not lame!'.
In addition to weddings, Woodhouse Photography also specializes in outdoor FAMILY PORTRAITS and outdoor HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PORTRAITS.
Family portrait photography is great for those that cherish their family and their memories. Capturing a family at any given stage of their lives holds tremendous value that is truly appreciated years later. This is equally important for HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PORTRAITS. For HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PORTRAITS (like a family shoot) I spend a couple of hours in various outdoor environments with your son or daughter to capture that important stage of their life where high school is becoming a memory and their first phase of adulthood is about to commence. HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PORTRAIS are an excellent family gift whether you are the student and want to give your images to your family, or for parents who are proud of their child and would love to share professional quality 'Senior Portraits' with their family. With living in our beautiful Kawartha cottage country, the outdoor FAMILY and HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PORTRAITS I do have limitless northern 'look and feel' locations that I love to utilize.
